Heute, a brand new fashion label decided to enter this big, bad, scary, Covid-19 world we live in disguised as PORNO STORE a faux multimedia sex shop located in imaginary cyberspace. PORNO STORE delves into the cyber-reality of sex work in times of Covid-19, SESTA, and FOSTA while opening healthy discussions on how to protect those who bravely sell the most consumed product of modern society: sex.
Starting with an interactive t-shirt that entices the audience to scan codes and call numbers to ‘buy’ sex. We interviewed 3 modern day sex workers and 1 sex therapist to ensure that every ‘ad’ on this interactive t-shirt came from an authentic place. The codes take you to websites on human trafficking while the numbers lead your ears to interesting places. My favourite interaction is a ‘virtual void’ where the audience can go and admit to only themselves what their deepest desires are. 75 percent of the profits of this art project go to PROUD (the Dutch union for sex workers).
